Everyday Make Up Staples
Tuesday, 12 August 2014
Easy, lightweight make up is my staple for everyday. I'm lucky in that most of the time my skin is fairly clear so I can get away with not wearing a foundation or BB Cream on a daily basis. But these are my basic everyday make up staples.
Primer - MUA Undress Your Skin Flawless Primer
This primer is without a doubt my favourite primer ever. It makes my make up last the whole day, gives my skin a nice smooth feel and the finish is perfect as far as I'm concerned - matte but more of a 'natural' matte because it's not too matte which is something I'm not that keen on. And at £5 it's a total bargain!
Concealer - Maybelline Fit Me #10 light
I ended up getting this sort of by mistake. I love the Collection concealer but when I went to repurchase they didn't have my shade left so I thought I'd try this one, partially because I've heard good things about it and also because there was a buy one get one half price deal on Maybelline products. Despite this being an alternative purchase, I'm so pleased that I did because I actually like it better than the Collection Lasting Perfection concealer. It covers my dark circles up much better and I love the creamy texture of the product. I think it blends in so much better and I'll certainly be repurchasing this in the future.
Foundation/Powder - Clinique Almost Powder Makeup #02 neutral fair
This stuff is like my holy grail product of all time. Yes it's a little on the pricey side, especially for a student budget, but it's so worth it! This has enough coverage to make your skin look nicer than with nothing on it at all, adds a little coverage which is easily build able without going cakey and it also looks nice with a very light layer of a tinted moisturiser underneath. It's the perfect product! Of course it keeps your skin looking shine free all day which is so handy for a busy day.
Bronzer - Bourjois delice de poudre (chocolate bronzer) #51
Because I'm so pale I often find it difficult to get my hands on a bronzer that's affordable but doesn't make me look orange. And I've finally got it! It took me a while to be convinced by it enough to buy it, but it just looks so nice on my skin. It's the perfect bronzer colour and gives a beautiful warmth to my skin and when I was on holiday I found that I could build it up a little more to make me looks more bronzed and tanned without it going all gross and orange looking.
Eyebrows - Revlon Brow Fantasy brunette
I love a strong eyebrow, and the combination of a pencil and a tinted gel just works perfectly. This stuff stays on all day so you have no worries about a stray eyebrow at all, and it's just the perfect colour for me. Obviously this might not be everyone's cup of tea, but I think that it will work well for a lot of people because it's simply one product, it's quick and easy and it doesn't budge - I've been swimming with this on and it didn't move at all. If you don't like such a strong brow then I think this would still work well, just use less of the pencil.
Mascara - Maybelline The Rocket Waterproof black
I always go for a waterproof mascara because otherwise it just seems to drop down from my lashes to under my eyes and just makes them look ever darker. This stays in place, holds the curl nicely and makes me lashes looks nice and long and defined with lots of volume and no clumps!
On a day to day basis I tend to wear a lip balm with a bit on tinted lip balm over the top, something like a Baby Lips or the rosy lips Vaseline.
What's your everyday make up staple?
