Mars Bar Easter Nests

Sometimes you need a last minute Easter treat; something that doesn't take very long to make, looks cute, tastes delicious and gives a chocolatey fix. These little mars bar Easters nests are perfect for just that. As mars bars are used instead of just plain chocolate, the nests are lovely and chewy as well as having a delicious chocolate flavour. What's more theses can be made any time of year, a tray 'bake' works well too and is a family favourite at my house.

You'll Need:

  • 2 full sized mars bars
  • 2 oz margarine
  • 2 oz sugar
  • 2 tablespoons golden syrup
  • 4 oz cornflakes - rice krispies, shredded wheat or all bran sticks/flakes will all work well too
  • mini eggs

Simply chop up the mars bars and add them to a saucepan with the margarine, sugar and syrup and melt it altogether over a low heat.

When you have the most delicious golden, chocolatey liquid remove from the heat and stir in cornflakes or other cereal. Keep going until every little bit is covered in the chocolatey syrup, it may not look enough but it really is.

Then spoon the mixture into little paper cases and top with mini eggs, before leaving to chill for a couple of hours. I went for a mini egg per nest, but go crazy - add as many as you like.

These nests are so delicious, the perfect treat to give as a little gift or enjoy on Easter Sunday.

What are you favourite Easter treats?
