Currently Reading | Jenny Colgan

It's no secret that I love nothing more than curling up with a good book. I just love reading, I have done since I was little and it still remains a favourite pastime. After a friend asked some book recommendations, I thought I'd start up a little series of currently reading. Sharing recommendations and other bookish discussions.

Some of my favourite books to read a romantic comedy style books. Something with a love story, that'll make me laugh, has a plot that keeps be guessing and has a happy ending. Of course I do branch out from this, but my comfort blanket of reading is a lovely novel that's a total page turner.

Jenny Colgan's romance books are amongst my favourites. Her writing style is so gripping, it really takes you right into the story and I find myself becoming rather attached to the characters. Not to mention so many of them have foody themes, the tempting recipes throughout and a book based on a favourite topic of mine, what is there not to love?!

The first novel by Jenny Colgan I read was Meet Me at the Cupcake Cafe, which completely sucked me in. Since then, I've loved reading every one, going through each book like wildfire. The Loveliest Chocolate Shop in Paris was such a wonderful read, I found myself mouthwatering at the chocolate descriptions and completely engrossed with the characters, willing everything to work out for them.

The most recent I've read is Welcome to Rosie Hopkins' Sweet Shop of Dreams. This book was so easy to read, and I completely loved it. I love how the characters in her books are often thrown into a situation that they think they'll hate, but as the story line develops they go on to completely fall in love with it. The twists in the story and developments of the characters just made me fall in love with this book so fast, and now I can't wait to read the next installments.

I think it's safe to say that Jenny Colgan is one of my favourite authors, her books a perfect for cosy afternoons under a duvet or sunny beach reads.
