Budget Beauty Haul

More recently I've been wanting to experiment and try out more budget friendly options. I try to use a mix of higher end products and budget friendly, but for a lot of things I've been gravitating to more expensive products. Don't get me wrong I love using those products, but the cost isn't my favourite thing ever and for some things I actually prefer a lot of the cheaper offerings. I'm planning on posting several budget beauty themed posts this July, starting of with a little haul of recent purchases.

Starting off with an item that I haven't actually photographed, I think the fact I'm not sure what I've done with it really shows I'm not a fan! I really thought I'd love the L'oreal Telescopic mascara considering how much it gets raved about for adding length, definition and volume but it made very little difference to the length and clumped all my lashes together. Many people rave about it, but I'm just not a fan.

Firstly out of curiosity I got the L'oreal Infallible Matte Max lipstick in 001 Silencio. It's a pretty nude colour that is so lovely for everyday wear. I find it can be quite drying compared to other matte lipsticks, I guess that's the powdery formula, but with a slick of balm under it I actually really like it. The staying power was rather good and it felt comfortable with a touch of balm, not heavy or anything. Plus the cushion applicator is rather interesting, but it does apply the product well, and it smells of marshmallows!

When I finally came across a NYX counter at Boots I gave into the hype and got the Soft Matte Lip Cream in Cannes, and my my I'm so glad I did. Not only is it the most beautiful shade that's easy for every day or evening, they really are smooth and soft when applied to the lips and doesn't dry up either. The colour stays looking nice all day, a little top in the middle was needed after eating but that was all, but what I really wasn't expecting was how delicious they smell! Like vanilla cake batter, I love that I can smell it right up until it's on the lips and then it doesn't smell or bother me at all. Perfect.

Another NYX products I've fallen in love with is their Doll Eye Long Lash mascara. This is amazing, I love how my lashes look fuller, longer and thicker with this. I've been using it every morning since I purchased it and I'm seriously impressed, it holds a curl beautifully and doesn't budge throughout the day. I may have finally found a mascara I like enough to repurchase.

Not exactly a makeup item but anyway, from NYX I also got the On The Spot makeup brush cleaning spray. Obviously I wash my brushes properly, but this is really useful either in between washes, or for when I want to use the same brush with different products. It's so easy and handy to have, and has a lovely light rosy scent.

Next I got the Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipliner in Spice. I'm sure I saw Megan from Thumbelina Lillie talking about this to go with the Clinique lip pop in Sugar Pop. Anyway, it pairs beautifully with the lip pop and really has become a go to combination. The colour is quite pinky toned, but still neutral enough for daily wear. The lipliner isn't as creamy as their twist up ones, but it still feels really comfortable on the lips, makes my lips look a bit fuller and really extends the wear of lipstick.

Finally I couldn't resist going into the Kiko store in Bluewater. I've never actually got anything from Kiko before, mainly because I like to swatch things first, so I was kinda excited to finally be able to try some things. I got the Take It All palette in Rosy Tones, which is from The Beauty Games collection. The palette has 3 eye shadows, a bronzer, a blush, and a mini eye liner and applicators. Having previously gone a little bit lip product crazy, I was keen to try out some cheek products and eye shadows so this was perfect for me, plus I've never really tried out more rosy toned eye looks before so this is a good little introduction. I've only tried out the bronzer and blusher which are so lovely, and work really well with my skin tone. The blush adds a beautiful rosy flush and the bronzer worked really well a contour shade. I have to say I'm surprised that the eyeliner is black, I would've thought that a brown would look very pretty with soft rosy eyes.

L-R; Rimmel Spice liner, L'oreal Silencio Matte lip, NYX Cannes Soft Matte, Kiko shadow 1, Kiko shadow 2, Kiko shadow 3, Kiko bronzer, Kiko blusher
