15 Things of 2015

Happy New Year! To mark the start of 2016 I thought I'd gather together 15 things I've loved throughout 2015; be that things I've done, blogs I've read or products I've discovered and loved.

Organisation

Starting out with more random things before we get into all the beauty chat, in the last 6 or so months I've been getting into being a heck of a lot more organised. The whole things started out by me getting stressed over moving house and me deciding that I needed to get myself more organised. I started up using a journal to write all my to-do lists, goals, and daily plans down which I speak about more here, and it really helped me not only stay organised and on top of all my work and blogging, but I've become so much more productive too.

Cooking

Being a uni student I obviously have to cook all my meals myself, and I admit in first year I tended to cook the same easy meals all the time with little variety. This year I made a real effort to try out different things, and I can tell this is going to continue especially as I got a budget recipe book. I still get the odd takeaway here and there and cook with friends, however it really is cheaper and healthier to prepare meals from scratch. I plan on making lots of posts with cheap and easy recipes in the new year, to really inspire me to try new things. You can read some previous recipes I've posted here.

Blogs

2015 was the year I got into blogging. Whilst I've had this blog for a while, I didn't really blog, promote or read other blogs until well into this year. Because of this I've found many a blog that I love reading, and a few that I make sure I check back for every post. 3 of my favourites this year have been Sophie from Shy Life Living, Kat from Chapters of Kat and Jasmine from Jasmine Talks Beauty. All these blogs have amazing, friendly writing styles and stunning photography. Most of my wish list is because of various posts and reviews I've read by these bloggers. Sophie, Kat and Jasmine all are such genuinely lovely girls, if you haven't you need to check their blogs out!

I Got a Camera

For me a highlight of the year was getting a camera. I love it so much, and of course it's helped me to really improve the quality of the images on my blog. I made a whole post about my lovely camera here as I love it so much.

Jewellery

I've been a jewellery kinda girl for quite some time now, but it's always been about the necklaces. For my 18th birthday last year I got a Pandora bracelet and at first I kept it for special occasions which seemed like a good idea, but more recently I've been getting into wearing it pretty much all the time. It's so nice to be reminded lots of all the memories that I've collected with charms from family and my boyfriend. I know lots of girls have them, but they're such nice pieces of jewellery and I love mine so much.

Skincare

I feel like I'm always harping on about Superdrug skincare products but they really are good, and at such affordable prices. I love the Vitamin E range, and the brightening eye cream, but something I haven't mentioned is there face mask range which are so good. I have the detoxifying mud mask which is perfect for freshening up your face, and getting rid of a whole load of greasy yucky build up making your skin look almost renewed and feel so soft too.

High End Makeup

2015 was the year I fell in love with buying high end makeup. I've always loved looking at the wishing I could buy it, and I guess this year I just felt like treating myself to good quality makeup. Which I'm thankful for because I've made some amazing discoveries, including two foundations that I swear by - I'll probably never go back to drugstore formulas as I just can't get them to look nice on my skin or colour match well. I'm excited to be able to try out more new things and a wider variety of brands too.

First MAC Purchase

Along the same lines as buying more high end makeup, I bought my first MAC makeup item - Studio Fix powder foundation. It took me ages to actually buy something from MAC, and now I have a MAC wish list as long as a piece of string. It's kind of a cult blogger brand, so I even surprised myself by waiting so long to actually buy something. Next on my MAC list has got to be a lipstick.

The Red Lip

I normally always go for nude lip colours, but this year I branched out and found myself really enjoying wearing bolder lips, even red lipstick. One of my blogmas posts was dedicated to my favourite red lipstick combination - MAC lipliner in cherry and Chanel lipstick in rouge coco gabrielle. Here's to hoping that in 2016 I'll try out even more different shades as my makeup confidence grows.

Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Liquid Lipsticks

Now granted I only have one shade, Nude-ist, but I love the formula of this. It's creamy and light on the lips, giving a lovely long lasting matte finish that doesn't dry out the lips at all. There are so many other shades I'd like to try after feeling like I have the knack now of putting on a lipstick in liquid form - I have to admit it did throw me a bit at first.

Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara

It took me ages to jump on this band wagon, but when I did I was so pleased that I did. It's such a lovely mascara, that for me creates so much volume and length that my lashes actually look half decent and hold a curl, all making my tiny eyes look so much bigger. Mine is getting so tatty and drying up that I definitely need to pop to Boots to get a new one.

Collection Eyes Uncovered Nude Palette

Again this is something I took ages to actually purchase, worried that the cheap price would reflect in the quality. However as a sucker for a nude eye shadow palette I eventually succumbed and picked one up and I love it. It's been a real go to palette for me since I got it in the summer, although there's only 6 shades, they're all such good quality - really lovely shades, with great pigmentation and an almost buttery texture. Definitely worth picking up if you haven't already.

Revlon Eye Primer

This stuff is amazing, affordable and keeps those shadows on your lids for such a long time with no creasing, and brighten the eye area. What more could you want?!

Clinique Deep Comfort Body Moisturiser

This stuff is amazing. Thick, creamy and hydrating and I really like that it doesn't have a scent. I find that the clean fragrance free 'scent' really sets off your perfume whilst still having lovely smooth and soft skin. It's a win win really.

Marc  Jacobs Daisy Dream Perfume

I got this for Christmas 2014, and throughout the year I've loved it. It's such a lovely light floral scent that's perfect for daily use, especially so in the spring and summer months.

So there are my 15 of 2015. What things did you love in 2015?
